Here are responses to my inquiry about sharpening the 2100E steel rasp:

1.Don.........I've never heard of anyone sharpen those steel
rasps....... know matter what model they are. In all my 34 years of
being in the business I just never had to have them
sharpened..........but their maybe someone out there who can do the job.

2.Rasps of the prickly type cannot be re-sharpened as they are made
using a knurling process. The semi-spiral type do have ground cutting
edges and usually require extensive indexing to re-grind. Thus making it
cost prohibitive usually... to sharpen.

Here in my city I use Houston Saw & Knife for some of these same
purposes. We use a variety of different cutter types. They also make for
me all the various band saw blades used in this lab.

3.The last time we had to do this we had to go to a machine shop that
had the capabilities for sharpening these rasps.

I also heard from Martin at Fillauer who does have a connection with the
manufacturer of those rasps and can get them sharpened through them. It
is fairly expensive, but I am going to try that option. I did take them
to a local sharpening service that does our scissors, etc, but they
could not do the rasps. Thanks to all who responded.
