This seems to be a follow-up question to Jim DeWees' previous emails
re P&O exemption from facility accreditation requirements.
CMS MLN # MM6282 , page 3, #4 Accreditation states Suppliers that
fall in this subset [prosthetists, orthotists, ... will NOT currently
require accreditation for enrollment] who provide other DME outside of
their specialty are required to be accredited to bill Medicare as a
DMEPOS supplier.
My question is, are diabetic/therapeutic/extra-depth inlay shoes and
inserts considered inside or outside the specialty of an orthotist??
I'll post responses.
Thank you,
Georgia Loney
