Hello everyone,
My name is Amanda Peirano. I am a Doctorate of Health Administration
candidate at the University of Phoenix On-line. I currently work at Mount
Carmel Medical Center and worked for many years at Orthopaedic Trauma and
Reconstructive Surgery (OTRS). I am conducting research designed to describe
the use of spirituality among individuals with limb amputation and to
determine how spirituality relates to quality of life. The survey takes on
average about 20-30 minutes to complete. You do not have to be spiritual to
participate. *I am having difficulty reaching amputees because of the
patient privacy act. I need to receive 125 surveys and only have 14. I
originally thought that physicians and prosthetists would aid in reaching
out to individuals with limb amputations but I am finding that many
physicians and prosthetists are too busy to assist me. I am asking that
individuals with amputations reach out to help other individuals with
amputations by participating in my survey and passing my contact information
to fellow amputees. *
As you know amputation is a life changing experience. My hope is that by
getting individuals with amputations to complete my survey will help
me build an understanding of the effect of spirituality on adaptation to
amputation. Treating the mind, body, and spirit in patients is important to
the physical and psychological adjustment to an injury or illness.
Acknowledgement of spiritual coping among patients may further its use and
ultimately assist individuals with limb amputation in experiencing a more
satisfying life.
If you are interested in receiving a survey please contact me via email at
<Email Address Redacted> or <Email Address Redacted> or call me at 614-394-2662.
