Hello everyone,
I have a 13 year old female patient with concerned parents, who presents
with genu varum and marked internal rotation of her knees as well as
calceneal valgus and forefoot varus and increased abduction foot
compensations. She has increased lumber lordosis as a result of her
internally rotated femoral alignment, most likely due to increase psoas
muscle strain at insertion at lumber vertebrae and origin at lesser
trochanter, in standing. Her flexibility is normal for her age and she is
very active in dance and soccer. I estimate that she has 15 to 18 months of
growth left. She complains of generalized mild hip pain bilaterally and of
her appearance.
She is wearing custom rigid UCBL foot orthotics on a full time basis. Any
thoughts on conservative leg bracing, possibly for nighttime usage?
