I just recieved my NEW Indiana Medicaid booklet with all their codes, new ones, deleted ones, etc. The following codes have all been deleted here, which are normally identical to the Medicare codes: L 5993 (Heavy duty feature, foot only, for patients over 300 pounds)L 5994 (Heavy duty feature, knee only for patients over 300 pounds)L 5994 (Addition to lower extremity prosthesis, Heavy duty feature other than foot or knee, for patients over 300 pounds) There are no new codes added in Indiana that replace these codes. For upper extremity codes, there are some changes there too. The following codes have been changed: L 7611 is now L 6711 ( Voluntary opening )L 7612 is now L 6712 (Voluntary closing)L 7613 is now L 6713L 7614 is now L 6714L 7621 is now L 6721L 7622 is now L 6722 It must have originally been assigned the numbers by someone with dislexia. And as far as the Heavy Duty Features, maybe Medicare doesn't think that people over 300 pounds really need a prosthesis, or something....or maybe someone at some BIG insurance companies ( I'm not going to mention any names here) talked to Medicare to influence them to drop some of these codes.....who knows. Good luck figuring out all the changes again this year.
