I have a 75 year old Right Ak Left BK amputee that has a chronic issue with skin breakdown on the left BK. We have tried everything to relieve pressure and/or friction but nothing works. The Doc and PT would like to just use the Ak to transfer and that is all. Has anyone ever seen this done? How is she going to unload the knee to unlock? Is there a knee that will allow that much gradient flexion to sit/stand? The PT just thought she would be able to stand up with the AK. I guess a Ossur Power knee would be appropriate here? (just kidding) Any suggestions would be great.
Thanks
