STATEMENT FROM ARIZONA AFO, INC.
12/5/08
We at Arizona AFO, Inc heard of the recent news from the PDAC regarding
correct coding for Arizona type ankle foot orthoses at the same time
as others did on 12/4/08.
Arizona AFO, Inc played no part in this choice of coding and was never
contacted in any way or for any reason by the PDAC prior to their
decision.
We believe that the coding they list does not adequately reflect our
product's features and qualities and it is regretful that this type of
decision was made without an opportunity by us, the manufacturer whom
they mentioned, to provide educational assistance, samples or other
information that would have been helpful in making an informed decision.
We are currently pursuing contacting the decision makers to have our
concerns discussed.
Recently AOPA had featured our products at their coding seminars and
prior to that had requested some samples from us to examine and to have
on hand. AOPA has stated that they are not in agreement with the PDAC in
regards to the correct codes to use for our products. AOPA has offered
their expertise, and we are corresponding with them.
Arizona AFO, Inc has always been a supporter of the O, P, & P community
and has given back to our field in several ways. We thank all who have,
in turn, supported our company with their business. We now ask for your
support in whatever means you may have to offer to help bring
clarification to this matter by notifying the PDAC as to your
objections. They provide a means of contacting them with such concerns
through their website: www.dmepdac.com.
Please feel free to contact us with any comments or questions. We will
keep you updated with any pertinent information we receive.
Sincerely,
Ernesto Castro, C.Ped
