To those of you who knew or went to school with Dick Carey, I regret to
inform you of his passing. See the attached obituary. Dick was an innovator
to the end, and certainly one of the best prosthetists this field has ever
known.

RICHARD DICK JOSEPH CAREY
Jan. 14, 1945 ~ Aug. 14, 2008- Richard Dick Joseph Carey, 63, of
Vancouver, WA, passed away on Aug. 14, 2008. He was born Jan. 14, 1945 in
Earling, IA to Raymond Joseph and Helen Edith (Schulte) Carey. Dick
graduated in 1962 from St. Xavier High School in Junction City, KS. He
served in the U.S. Army from 1963-1966. Dick graduated from the Northwestern
University in Chicago, IL as a professional Prosthetist. Dick is survived by
his wife of 39 years, Margaret Carey; son, Matthew Carey; sisters, Sandy
(Gary) Pheil, Nancy (Al) Becker; brother, William Carey; sister, Anna Mary
Shearer; brother, Patrick (Erica) Carey; multiple nieces and nephews. He was
preceded in death by his parents. A memorial service will be held on Wed.,
Aug. 20, 2008 at 3:00 p.m. at Evergreen Memorial Gardens, 1101 NE 112th
Ave., Vancouver, WA 98684. Please send your donations to Oregon Wildlife
Heritage Foundation, PO Box 30406, Portland, OR 97294.
