Dear List,
I am looking for suggestions on fabricating a hybrid supracondylar/pin lock
socket. This patient has a short boney TT residual limb. He has mild valgus
instability at the knee and a difference of 1 1/4 between ML and PML
measurements.
He currently wears a pin system with a medial brim that hugs the PML as much as
possible while still allowing the condyles to pass through. It fits fairly
well but does not offer enough control above the knee. He likes the secure
suspension of the pin and is against relying solely on supracondylar suspension.
I showed him a sample of the Removable Medial Brim system distributed by
Kingsley and he liked the concept. I believe this could work for him, but it
does add significant bulk and weight. Does anyone have suggestions on designs
that follow a similar concept?
Thank you,
Mike Hansen CO/LO
