*HAVE YOU REGISTERED FOR THE FAOP ANNUAL CONFERENCE???
*
This year's annual conference in Weston Florida promises to be our
biggest and best yet. The Florida Association of Orthotists and
Prosthetists has long been known for hosting extraordinary meetings,
this one promises to be a doozy.
Perched on the edge of the Everglades, Weston is a truly unique place.
The family-friendly resort has all the amenities any family member may
desire. In addition, you are only minutes away from airboat rides,
tours through the Glades, one of the states largest malls for the
shop-a-holic, and you're just across from Markum Park, a county park
that in addition to the usual park amenities offers an RC plane
airstrip, firearms range with rifle, pistol, trap, and skeet fields.
Oh, and if you visit one of the many Weston restaurants or stores you
just may bump into a Dolphin football great like Shula or Marino.
In addition to the family fun time you also have available information
that is important to you as an owner, an employee, a practitioner, a
licensee, and an individual. Below are only the highlights of what is
available.
*For all practitioners:*
Non-compete contracts - looking at them from both sides
Ethnography - how do your patients and others see you and your practice
Exposure to toxic agents in fabrication
Keeping clean in a nasty world
*Vendor Exhibits:
*Our exhibit hall rivals the national meetings in both quantity and
quality.*
*Attendees may see and experience vendor exhibits from all over the
nation. The vendor exhibit hall is busting out with the newest
products, vendor reps that can solve that nagging problem, and deals
found only in the Casbah. To further increase your pleasure, attendees
may be awarded up to two CE credits for fulfilling their tactile urges.
*Prosthetists:*
The i-LIMB hand system & ProDigits - you've heard about this new
sensational hand, seen it on TV and in magazines, now you can learn how
it works and actually see and feel this amazing hand.
*Orthotists:*
The revolutionary Walk-Aide - this orthosis of the future is here now.
You may attend the required 1-1/2 day course qualifying you to provide
patients with this new electrical orthosis, an AFO-substitute. We only
have a few remaining spots open, so if you are interested don't delay.
This course is taught around the country but we have it here in Weston.
Or, you may attend a brief introductory Walk-Aide seminar keeping you
current on what the future holds.
Halos - the proper fit and care.
Scoliosis - new ideas on coronal shifts
*Licensees and Residents:*
We have all the required mandatory courses for initial license and
license renewal.
MOST important - new legislation went into effect on 7/1/08 that effects
all licensees and NCOPE residents. The license law presentation covers
how the new law may affect you.
ID Badges - the new law requires a photo ID while providing patient
care. In preparation of the upcoming regulation FAOP is set-up to take
your picture during the conference.
*The Cherry:*
The cherry on this educational banana split is the awarding of a tuition
voucher to attend the SPC/Trulife Orthotic Fitters course. Thanks to the
generosity of Trulife and SPC, we have a tuition voucher valued at over
$500 that will be awarded to a lucky attendee at the FAOP member's meeting.
Don't delay, specialty courses are closing out fast and discounted hotel
rooms are limited.
