Myrtle Beach, SC-September 29, 2008-The UpperEx National Outreach Coalition
(UNOC) today announced that they have elected five new members to their
board of directors. The newly elected leaders bring years of knowledge,
experience, and upper extremity expertise from both the practitioner and
patient side to this young and fast growing organization.
We are excited to welcome these talented and passionate people to the
board, said Eric Westover, Chairman and CEO. They each bring great
strengths to our organization and have made a commitment to better the
amputee community through their service. I look forward to the generous
contributions they will continue to make as volunteer leaders of UpperEx.
The new members are:
Randy Alley: Mr. Alley is CEO and Chief Prosthetist for Biodesigns, Inc..
Mr. Alley has over 16 years of experience exclusively working with upper
extremity patients. He is an adjunct professor at Cal State Dominquez Hill's
Orthotic & Prosthetic program, a member of ISPO, and is the Chair of the
Academy's CAD/CAM society. Mr. Alley also currently serves on the boards of
O&P Business News and The O&P Edge.
Kim Doolan: Ms. Doolan has been wearing (and using) upper extremity
prostheses for over forty years. She previously served on the boards of The
Amputee Coalition of America, The American Board for Certification in
Orthotics & Prosthetics, and The Barr Foundation. Ms. Doolan currently works
with Touch Bionics/LIVINGSKIN and Allen O&P.
Sean McHugh: Mr. McHugh lost his right arm below the elbow in a September
2002 construction accident. He quickly mastered the use of his body powered
hook and jumped back into life. Mr. McHugh is currently working at Atlantic
Integrated. He was on the original board of directors of the UNOC and also
serves as a Director on the board of the Civic Theatre of Allentown.
David Ostiguy: Mr. Ostiguy is a right above-elbow amputee. He became an
amputee as a result of a fast growing, highly aggressive soft tissue cancer
originally diagnosed in his right hand. Mr. Ostiguy received a BS in
Computer Science from Rochester Institute of Technology. He currently
resides in Apex, North Carolina with his wife and works professionally as a
software developer.
Dave Rotter: Mr. Rotter is a Certified Prosthetist Orthotist with sixteen
years of experience. He has been an upper extremity specialist for eleven
years with extensive adult and pediatric knowledge. He is a principal of
Scheck and Siress Prosthetics and Orthotics in Chicago, Illinois. David also
serves on the board of directors of the Association of Children's Prosthetic
and Orthotic Clinics.
In other board related news, Eric Westover, Chairman, and Shawn Westover,
Secretary, were both re-elected to serve second terms in their respective
positions. Their new terms will expire on December 31, 2010.
Detailed bios of each board member can be found on the UNOC web site.
