Good Morning all:
A certian insurance carrier has recently begun limiting prosthetic components to strictly 1 & 2 functional levels. Medical necessity is not the issue or a consideration, per the wording of their policy. Reportedly the policy is under review at this time, but despite my justifications, clearly detailed rationale for choices and speaking with many of their medical directors over the last 3 weeks, the ruling stands...K1 & 2 components.
That being said, codes allowed at this time include: L5979 dyn resp. & L5986 multiaxl (outside of sach and flexbl keel codes). Question:
What are your favorite feet that fall under the descriptors of L5979, L5986 and combinations therein? Are there any that would be appropriate for the active, outdoorsman 300lb wt category?
Many thanks for your input.
