Ivan Long, CP (E) is entering into his eighth week of hospitalization and
rehab and we are beginning to see some progress. However, last Friday he
was diagnosed with pneumonia - hopefully, they caught it in time to get a
good hold of it. Ivan is able to wear his C-Leg KAFO that he made (with
some help in getting it on) and he is able to walk with a walker about 50
feet before he needs to sit and rest, but then he is eager to get up and
walk some more. He continues to be in need of oxygen and the doctors are
fighting the build up of fluids in his lungs. The dual pacemaker that was
implanted on the 28th of May seems to be doing it's job as needed.
Hopefully, as Paul Oswald so neatly put it, Long's Line will soon be back
to vertical instead of horizontal . His spirit and attitude continues to
be lifted each morning when I bring his email letters and snail mail cards
of encouragement to him. We are both very appreciative of all the support
that Ivan is receiving. Please send emails to: <Email Address Redacted> , or
