Dear LIST,
?? I just read with interest my good friend and colleague Jan Saunders' post on the rising costs of gas as it presents yet another challenge to our profession that we will have to contend with.? The costs of traveling to hospitals goes up proportionally to the increase in gas prices.??Shipping costs are up.? The costs of thermoplastics will have to be adjusted to reflect increases in the cost of producing petroleum based materials.? The costs of plastic components is up.??I think it is fair to say that we will be facing more increases in the future until?fuel prices are stabilized... or?UNTIL SUPPLIES INCREASE.?
?? With that in mind, I would like to share with all members of the LIST a link to an article I read this afternoon about?an appeal to Congress to take action on this issue.? This is not an endorsement of any particular policy, but rather an encouragement to take a pro-active stance on this issue so that?as supplies of petroleum increase, costs will decrease and we can?continue to provide our patients with care at an affordable price... and make a decent living for ourselves.? After you read the?article from Breitbart.com, you will have an opportunity to do something... or not.? The choice is yours.? Your decision will, of course, affect more than just the impact of rising costs?upon the O&P profession.??Please give this your most serious consideration so we can all say we did something to help remedy this problem.??????
