This is going to sound funny but check out the Happy Man Suspensory made
by TrueForm. They come in many LARGE sizes.
You poor, poor soul,
We had a case of 16 year old male weighing 745 pounds about 6'4.
He had edema of the testicles and difficulting in walking due to his
size and interference of his testilcles. Measurements were taken and a
cod piece was made out of sewing a large 8 inch Ace Bandage into the
appropriate shape-- picture a normal size jock strap X 12. The scrotal
support was reinforced down the midline with a 4 inch ace bandage. The
rest of the straps were pinned together while placing the support on
the patinet and then sewed together.
The straps were an 2 inch elastic dacron style.
We have the memory of this case forever etched in our minds and have had
a couple of PTSD symptoms after the completion of this mission. OK, that
part I was joking about.
I have made slings in the past. We would take a universal abdominal
binder and stitch a wide piece of Tubigrip or other stretchy material to
the back of the binder. The patient would then pull it between his legs
and move the scrotum out from between the legs. The front of the
Tubigrip would then Velcro to the front of the binder. Good luck.
Call Bioconcepts. (800-421-5647) Can't remember who I talked to about
this one time. They should be able to help with this. I was going to
get involved in this with a cancer clinic here in Houston, but never
followed through. Good luck!
here those cases are very common .I use to make a denin bag with an
elastice belt attached to it and a hole for the pennis. At the base of
the
bag there are two elastic straps that pulll it and hook at the back of
the
belt. There are two other ones that pull up and hooks at the front of the
belt. With that you prevent the scrotum of coming out at the side of the
bag.
Try a transfemoral shrinker. Take a circumferential measurement of the
scrotum at it's widest and a length from that equator anteriorly to
where the catheter hole may need to be. The TF shrinker can be fit with
an anterior approach wrapping the belt section around the waste with the
scrotum being fit in the TF shrinker. The length of the shrinker can be
modified with a crescent shaped stitch at the appropriate depth. Cut an
anterior hole for the catheter line if needed. The posterior aspect of
the proximal border may need to be split to ease donning and avoid
strangulation. To fit the catheter does not need to be removed only
disconnected and fed through the anterior hole. Go easy with the
compression when first fitting. They are quite easy to modify, fit and
work well.
I will assume this fellow has lymphedema. There is a company I deal
with and who has experience and success dealing with your exact
situation. They are based out of Montreal and the company is Valco or
you might know them as Medi-Ven. The phone number is 800-361-3153. I
would suggest you ask for Jane or Lynn.
I have been seeing several gentlemen with scrotal edema. Jobst can make
custom girdle with scrotal support. Does this guy have lymphedema? If
so he may need manual lymph drainage before doing a garment.
Take measurements as for a jock strap and a cast of the swollen scrotum.
Run up a support in soft canvas and trial on patient and ask him when he
feels the most comfortably supported.
They other temporary measure is too ask him to wear 2 pairs of y-front
type briefs over each other or 1 pair normal briefs with a pair of
cycling shorts over the top.
I use a DAW AK stump shrinker with belt or one of the new Knit-Rite
adjustable AK shrinkerswith a belt and with the sliding plastic ring.
Size
it by circum and sew it across the distal aspect in relation to the
length
the testes hang down. The side panel of the shrinker is worn in the
front.
The strap can be worn around the waist or over the shoulder. I have
tried
many other supports and this works the best according to my patient
feedback.
