Thanks, everyone.

Does she use any lotions on her skin? I've had similar problems only
where lotion was involved.

I believe the problem is smaller liners milk off the limb. I would try an Otto Bock polyurethane liner that can be order based on the actual circumference of her limb, not a liner that fits an average. Additionally, it is my understanding the material of the Otto Bock liner has different flow properties and is more durable than the Alps liners.

my gut feeling it is the fact that both ends of the liner are pulling against each other and you are getting a drawing of the limb distally. You might try to disengage the pin for a few hours and just see if you get the same phenomenon occuring, you might also check the placement of the mechanical knee joint in relation to the true knee joint- misalignment of the joints will force the residual limb in different directions depending on the displacement location- eliminating those two factors will at least narrow it down!. I have seem similar problems when combining a joint and thigh lacer with a pin system. I find I have to be very careful where my external joints are placed- You might consider a polycentric joint as well which is slightly more forgiving than single axis.

ACCUPUNCTURE!

has she tried Certain-Dry?...it works for a number of my patients...

well, we had a marathon runner with locking liner on. and she never lost her prosthesis. somehow i do not believe it's sweatting.
but, patient always knows better. i worked in same office with a practitioner, left transtibial. he spent easily 10 hrs a day walking. ossur locking liner, sweating profoundly. he used to soak a thin sheeth in really cold water and apply it against the skin, before rolling liner on. apperently, that helped to prevent sweatting a lot (nashville, TN, very hot and humid)
also, you can try that new antipersp designed for amputees, dry-z i believe.

Hello, been there before!! So far I've used an anti persperant (which worked
75% of the time) but knit rite has a sock out now to wear between the liner
and skin that is supposed to help this. Is there any invaginations in the
patients limb? If you don't have total contact, you will have an opportunity
for open pores which obviously makes sweat causing the problems your having.
If there is any gapping in the skin, Fillaur makes a silicone putty you can
give the patient to fill the voids, this has worked great for two of my
patients for over a year now.
