Hi List,
Here is my original question, followed by the responses:

Does anyone know about, or have documenation on what a Rehabilitation
Facility or SNF is responsible for as far as paying for P&O for
in-patients? The facility currently issues Purchase Orders for Medicare
patients- but what about Private Insurance? Is P&O bundled into their
Private Insurance payments as well? Is there a law on this? We're in NJ
and we have a meeting with the administrators and we want to bring as much
documentation as possible. Any insight is much appreciated.
Thanks,
Sharon Toscano-Andrews, CP

Yes. Here is the link straight from medicare consolidated billing manual.

Here is a link to a good article too if the SNF gives you any problems, just
give them the article. It seems to help us!

 Hi guys,
In my area just south of Seattle, I bill private insurances for all
patients' P & O needs for any rehab or snf facility. They only have to pay
if the patient is Med A, otherwise it's up to you to get the payment from
the private insurance. If the insurance is Cigna or UH and you are not
contracted, then perhaps you can make an arrangement wth the facility to
bill for the service and pay you. Good luck on getting that one through.
As far as I know there is no law regarding private insurances and snf's and
rehab facilities.
