List-
I currently have a patient with below knee amputation due to trauma that has a recurrent ulcer on distal anterior tibia. He has a flexion contracture of approximately 25 degrees.
Following this year's Academy meeting in Orlando I now think that vacuum suspension system may be ideal for getting this problematic ulcer to heal and then prevent recurrence.
For those of you that have had success, I would appreciate a few before and after pictures of such wounds to show the patient as he does not want surgery but not sure if any other options could work as the surgeon has told him nothing as far as prosthetics will work. The surgeon would also like to see the photos. Also any remarks on specific successful wear schedules for vacuum suspension and problematic ulcers. Please crop out patient faces for HIPPA purposes.
Hastiness is appreciated as he is scheduled for surgery 1 week from today, Tuesday. Thank you.
