After reading the list serve, and the concerns about Ossur and the repair dept my experience is very different. Over the past two years we have fit?many rheo knees, total knees, and mauch units. We have also fit many C-Leg, 3R60, and 3R45' knees. We have also fit many endolite mercury hi activity knees as well. Our patient population is very active and have put demands on all of these knees. Ossur knees stand up to the same abuse as other knes. Sure some patients have broken them in which case they were returned for repair. The turn around time was fast. Customer service was quick and efficient. If the knee was out of warranty the called with a description of the problem and the repair costs and waited for us to authorize the repair. We usually had the repaired knee back within one week. Ossur has?always been accessable to us and their technicial assistance has always been expedient and to the point. Any problem I have ever had with an?Ossur product has always been addressed!
in a timely manner.

In response to Marco du Plooy's request from yesterday, I have also noticed
a decline in the speed and effectiveness of Ossur's knee repairs. I recently
had a unit that I sent in for a blown hydraulic seal that they refused to
service because the serial number sticker was missing. The unit was still
within the warranty period. One would think that if that sticker was so
critical, they might have recorded the SN somewhere, to be referred to by
purchase date, PO# or by facility. Something. As far as the client is
concerned, that's an $8000 sticker. That's not the Ossur I thought I knew.
There's other such anecdotes as well from our facility, but the point is
clear. Something's rotten in Iceland and it's our clients who have to cope
with it.
In response to your other question, OB's 3r60 is a fairly good second choice
for moderate activity amps, in my view. You may wish to consider the
endolite line as an alternative as well.
Good luck.
