Can anyone help. I have received this email from an amputee and I'm not sure what to advise. Any help would be truly appreciated.
I have been advised that whilst removing my right leg due to infection it was necessary to remove two lager muscles from the inside of the stump. The problem is that my prosthetic limb rotates inwards when walking. I'm advised that the outer leg muscles cause this rotation as they are notbalanced due to the missing muscles. I can't believe I'm the first to have this condition and feel that here must be a solution. I attend the Mary Marlborough Centre in Oxford and have attended approx. monthly for adjustments since September 2006. I have never seen the consultant, only the doctor and limb fitter. The doctor assures me that he has talked to the former consultant who stated that there was no real solution. I am 80 but active, as far as I can be, but walking is hopeless after a few steps as the foot turns inward. Even putting the leg on is difficult as there are no points of location, just a round cup with a stuck on pad to attempt to stop rotation. I am not a
moaner but feel there must be a solution. HELP
Any suggestions,
Kiera
