Hello All,
After my post yesterday, my office manager did a little investigative work
and found a list of the accreditation organizations approved for suppliers
of orthotic and prosthetic devices. You can read the list for yourselves by
going to the following link on the Medicare website:
<URL Redacted>
n_Organizatio
There are some interesting organizations that have been approved, including:
-JCAHO
-National Association of Boards of Pharmacy
-Board of Orthotist/Prosthetist Certification
-The Compliance Team, Inc.
-ABC
-The National Board of Accreditation for Orthotic Suppliers
-Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities
-Community Health Accreditation Program
-HealthCare Quality Association on Accreditation
I have no idea what it might cost to receive your facility accreditation
from one of the non-ABC entities. You might be able to save some money by
checking with some of these folks. Meantime, I assume that ABC is working on
our behalf to make sure that Medicare is doing their homework to ensure that
each facility and individual out there providing O and P services has been
properly trained, and that the facility accreditations being offered by
these other organizations is more than a simple money-driven rubber
stamping.
Spend your dollars wisely.
Thank you for time.
