Hello everyone,
My name is Dan Didrick, creator of the X-Finger. I get the privilege of introducing myself to many of you for the first time, while simultaneously defending a slanderous fraud claim made against me last week by Jake Woods. If you have no interest, I am sorry for the intrusion.
Jake Wood, a prosthetist and finger amputee was unable to use any of our prosthetic fingers due to his amputation level. We decided to attempt the fabrication of a new design for him. To offset the manufacturing cost, I asked Jake for approximately 1/10 of the overall cost to fabricate his testing device; as I knew he would want to keep it.
We both knew the prototype may not operate, which unfortunately was the case. When discussing Jakes refund he explained he had submitted his case to insurance and received more than 5 times what he paid me. He stated in his letter to all of you that he asked us for a refund, but that is not true. He did not want a refund. He only wanted a device which would have resulted in him keeping the insurance money he collected.
I have yet to overcome Jakes challenging case. But, Jake knows he could have simply requested a refund on his credit at any time. Rather than contacting us, he deliberately used this forum to request a refund, while simultaneously attacking my character and damaging my business. Jake now has received his $1K and we continue to work on the development of a device that someday may help him.
Instead of simply contacting us for a refund on his credit, he chose to write this slanderous letter causing the most significant damage to my business that he could manage. I have now personally devoted several hundred hours and tens of thousands of dollars toward helping Jake, and his anger regarding the insurance overrides his decency to see what we attempted to do for him.
I was very optimistic about his case. When we first started, we avoided what we thought were the more complex cases where individuals were missing several fingers. Jake was missing the distal fingertip on one finger and I believed we could help him quite easily. We now know it is much easier to satisfy a person requiring 8 X-Fingers than a person requiring one fingertip. Jake was our first test subject for a device we had never made before and Jake was aware of this from the beginning. I understand he is frustrated we were unable to create his device, but we certainly did not committed fraud against him.
Please feel free to contact me at <Email Address Redacted> for more detailed information or images of the devices we have fabricated for Jake in an attempt to restore function to his fingertip. We continue to work on the latest advancements with regards to functional prosthetic fingers for your patients in need. If you need a fingertip only, unfortunately we have not yet overcome this challenge. In conclusion I would like to thank all of our customers who contacted us. We appreciate your kind words and for making us aware that you know us better than this.
Thank you for your time,
Dan Didrick
