With the final MAS Seminar being hosted by Northwestern University
Prosthetic & Orthotic Center (NUPOC) in November, I wanted to take a
moment to thank Marlo Ortiz, CP (M) for his contribution to our
profession. Marlo has put years of effort and expertise in perfecting
the Marlo Anatomical Socket (MAS) for transfemoral amputees and we at
OPGA have been proud help him share this amazing socket design with the
O&P community. Over 800 prosthetists have been trained and literally
hundreds, if not thousands of patients are now walking in a more
comfortable socket. Marlo has been willing to share his design with
prosthetists around the world.
Because of the MAS socket, Marlo has received numerous awards including
the Ted Tranhardt Award, the Clinical Creativity Award from the American
Academy of Orthotists and Prosthetists (AAOP) and just recently received
the Blatchford Prize, awarded at the Twelfth World Congress of the
International Society for Prosthetics and Orthotics, held in Vancouver,
British Columbia this past week for his work with transfemoral socket
design.
Please join me in thanking Marlo for his contribution to our profession.
