Here is a compilation of answers to my running question. Thanks to
everyone who contributed!! I think the most promising solution is
begging my insurance company to give me a new leg and using the suction
suspension system...keep your fingers crossed for me :-)
Question:
I am a bk amputee and have a desire to run. I see many amputee runners
>doing very well, but i have a setback. I wear an alpha liner and after
>about 15-20 minutes of running it is full of sweat. Once it is sweaty,
>it makes loud noises and is very unstable. What do other runners
>do/use?
Summarized Answers:
1. Using Anti-Perspirant on the residual limb...the most commonly
recommended was Certain-Dri
2. Using a liner liner ( a thin sock at the end of the liner) to absorb
sweat
3. Custom liner without pin and with sleeve suspension...E-Vac
(elevated vacuum system).
4. Chamois strip at top of liner to catch sweat.
5. Add gel pads or socks inside Alpha Liner
6. Silicone liners...AEGIS preflexed liners
7. VASS systems
8. Harmony System
9. Waist belt and fork strap
10. Ossur Synergy liner or Sport liner
11. Suction suspension with sleeve
12. suction suspension system consisting of a inner silicone liner,
outer sealing suspension sleeve, and one way expulsion valve.
Again, thanks for all your help. I'll keep you posted on my progress!
