Summary on Diabetic sock choice - Thanks to those who responded
Ben
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I agree with your thoughts. I recommend (and sell) only the Jobst SensiFoot
and Juzo Silver Sole socks.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Sounds like your doing everything right. Just an aside the shoe should be breathable, and the insole also wick away moisture. You can use the impregnated silver insoles. They have diabetic socks here in the US at the WALLMART.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Anything but fiberglass.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
knit rite diabetic socks with Xstatic. no seam on the top; i do not recognize synthetic materials as suitable for my patients (i am a firm believer that country is, for most part, so allergic to eveything because of the general flooding with synthetics. have no proof, just a hunch); silver is ages known anti microbial, fungal, and bacterial modality. we had very good success with those for folks with cellulitis. i have patients that love them and come back and keep either getting Rx-s for those, or just buying more.

Subject: [OANDP-L] Socks
I am trying to establish what types of socks we should be recommending to
people with diabetes or neuropathy, cotton or synthetic mix sock?.
There are differing opinions from medical people and the manufacturers. I
have been in the opinion that a cotton sock didn't keep the foot as dry when
it gets damp, or isn't as efficient in wicking away moisture as the
acrylic versions like coolmax, lycra etc.
I also recommend the usual features - non constricting top and seamless. I
have also been suggesting the silver thread sock as a hypoallergenic or
anti-microbial,alternative. What are your thoughts on the silver sock?
Interested in you are recommending for your diabetic patients
Thanks
Ben
