Dear Fellow Practitioners,
We have come a long way with our attempt to become licensed in the state of
New York. We hired our lobbyist in October 2006 and in 8 months we had
obtained a bill number and political support. If we don't push for this now
as a group we may face the fact that it will happen anyway, and some other
group will be in control and make decisions for us. Is that really what you
want? Please see details on our website www.nysaaop.org
We have approximately 700 OP and 500 Cped members in the state, if everyone
donated just $100 times 1200 that would equal $120,000.00 which would cover
our lobbyist for approximately three years. That sounds too good to be true
and of course not all 1200 people will donate. So what is it worth to you as
a practitioner or as an owner??? Do you want other organizations to decide
our fate? When Medicaid or others have questions about coding or procedures
do you think they will come to us for input if we are not a licensed
profession? What are your fears of licensing ? Let's get it out in the open
so we can address them. If you are for licensing then send your money now!!
Everytime we have to do a mailing it costs us over a thousand dollars which
could be going towards our licensing efforts.
Thank you for your time and support and especially to those that have spent
hours volunteering and to those that have sent in donations.
PS: Don't forget to support our chapter by attending our 2008 meeting in
Cooperstown.
