OPAF hits the road in June and July with First Clinics across the country
and near you!
This weekend we will be in the Chicago area with three clinics. First
Swing, lead by NAGA certified instructors will be on Friday, June 15 at
Addison Links and Tees. First Volley will be Saturday morning, June 16 at
the Addison Park District Centennial Park Tennis Courts. First Volley will
be lead by our Director of Tennis, Darren Kindred and First Volley
instructor, Kyle Devlin. First Swim, sponsored by Scheck & Siress
Prosthetics Orthotics and Pedorthics and lead by Paralympian champion, Jason
Wening, CP, will be Saturday evening at the Addison Park District Community
Pool. All offered at NO CHARGE.
June 23 OPAF will be hosting a First Volley clinic in Salt Lake City, Utah
at the Salt Lake Swim and Tennis Club. Refreshments and volunteers will be
provided by Otto Bock HealthCare of Salt Lake. Sunday, June 24 will see the
premier of First Dive, an adaptive Try Scuba clinic, in Buffalo, NY.
First Dive will be hosted in conjunction with Phoenix Scuba and Water Sports
and the Western New York Adaptive Water Sports. Again offered at NO CHARGE.
Los Angeles will be the next stop on our trip with First Volley on Saturday,
June 29 at the Alta Vista Tennis Courts in Redondo Beach, CA. First Volley
in LA and Salt Lake City will be lead by our First Volley amputee
instructor, Stan Backovsky. On Sunday, July 1 we will co-host First Swim at
the Westchester YMCA with the Mutual Amputee Aid Foundation (MAAF) and lead
by Lauren McVey and the Westchester YMCA staff. No Charge
Saturday, July 14 we will be in Wallingford, CT for a First Swim clinic,
sponsored by Hanger Orthotics and Prosthetics. July 21 OPAF will host a
First Volley clinic for the Amputee Coalition of America's Youth Camp in
Warm Springs, Georgia. Friday, July 27 we will be in the San Francisco area
with a First Volley Clinic sponsored by Gary Berke Prosthetics. No Charge.
And there's more! August 1 OPAF will present First Volley at the Consumer
Activity Day for ISPO in Vancouver!
Please help us by making sure that your patients and your community know
about these FREE adaptive sports clinics near you. Hand out copies to your
patients, notify your therapists, post the flier in your examination room,
distribute the information to your clinics and your referrals. There is NO
COST to your patients for a First Clinic! Practitioners are eligible for
Catagory II CEUs for attending a First Clinic!
