ANNOUNCING TWO NEW CERTIFICATE PROGRAMS
The American Academy of Orthotists & Prosthetists One-Day Seminars
October 26-27, 2007
The Academy's 2007 One-Day Seminars being held at the Hyatt Regency
O'Hare in Chicago are designed to provide you the opportunity to
participate in focused education programming while earning Certificates
of Professional Development and working towards attaining the
prestigious designation, Fellow of the Academy.
The Academy presents NEW back-to-back One-Day Seminars focusing on
Deformational Plagiocephaly & Evidence Based Practice: Justifying
Patient Care.
This year's new Certificate Programs will focus on a variety of
different topics within each subject.
Friday, October 26: Deformational Plagiocephaly -
The 'epidemic' of deformational plagiocephaly and the American Academy
of Pediatrics' response, the management of deformational plagiocephaly,
a review of the literature, orthotic modeling of the developing skull,
identification and treatment of congenital muscular torticollis in
infants, clinical evaluation processes and procedures for the orthotic
treatment of infants with deformational plagiocephaly, the presentation
of deformational plagiocephaly, orthotic treatment protocols for
plagiocephaly, FDA regulation of cranial remodeling devices, obtaining a
positive model for craniofacial deformities, an empiric review of
casting procedures, the orthotic management of infants with
plagiocephaly, modification procedures of the positive model, orthotic
cranioplasty, material and design considerations, an overview of
craniosynostosis and the use of postoperative cranial orthoses in the
management of craniosynostosis and deformational plagiocephaly, and
recommendations for future research.
Saturday, October 27: Evidence Based Practice (EBP): Justifying Patient
Care -
The foundation of EBP, scientific method, research question formation,
discerning printed information, literature searches, reading and
evaluating an article, statistics and practical applications.

Seminars you are satisfied that your continuing education dollars have
