Hello Esteemed colleagues,
I have been asked by an insurance company to provide a medical justification for a shaped cover on a leg prosthesis. I explained that it truly was not medically necessary but was a part of the finished prosthesis and that my patient did not want to be seen with a leg that looked like a plumbing pipe (not my description). I was told that unless I had a medical' justification, it would not be a covered item. Help!!! Any suggestions for medical necessity of a shaped cover? Thanks to all.
