Dear List and Amputee Support groups of NEW YORK,

NOW is you chance to help make a difference.

We need your help keeping the Prosthetic Parity bill moving.

Senator Seward is the only one that can give this bill a hearing.

He is opposed to any mandates as reported by his aid Allison Cooper.

Make sure to ask Allison to have Jim call you back so that you could speak directly to him.

With you phone calls, you could tell him how important this bill is and what it means to you, your patients and the New York Tax payers.

After meeting with his staff 2 weeks ago, it has become clear that more New Yorkers will need to press him to support this bill and ask for a hearing. This week is Statewide Call-in Week April 30th - May 4th

Please pass this information along to your patients and colleagues and urge them to contact Senator Seward NOW.

If you live in Senator Seward district and would like to join the NY Parity committee. Please contact Morgan Sheets at ACA or reply to this message.

Making a Call Chances are you will be leaving a message with a member of his staff. It is quick and easy and it will make a big difference in keeping this bill alive!

Sample message: My name is _____. I am from _____ (city), NY. I am calling to urge Senator Seward to hold a public hearing and Insurance Committee vote for Senate Bill 1672, the prosthetic parity bill.

Contact information: (518) 455-3131 (Albany)

If you have a few extra minutes, go ahead and leave a message at his district offices, too.

Help keep the fight for prosthetic parity moving! The rally in Albany on Tuesday, April 17, 2007 was a great success! Activists met with the Chair of the House Health Care Committee, Assemblyman Richard Gottfried, the Chair of the Senate Insurance Committee, Senator James Seward and several members of the leadership.

A press conference was also held. To check out the recent press coverage, click here.

This event will certainly help to continue to build the momentum in this important fight!! But we need to keep these bills moving!

Next Steps: One of our biggest obstacles is the Senate Insurance Committee. In spite of the fact that we have demonstrated the wide spread public support for Assembly Bill 1274 and Senate Bill 1672, Chairman James Seward continues to refuse to hold a public hearing and vote for this important legislation. Act now to ensure to keep these bills alive!!

Statewide Call-in Week April 30th - May 4th Next week, we are calling for local activists to make a call to Senator James Seward's office and urge him to hold a public hearing for Senate Bill 1672. If we can get at least 20 calls per day into his office, this will really demonstrate that strong support for prosthetic parity.

Making a Call Chances are you will be leaving a message with a member of his staff. It is quick and easy and it will make a big difference in keeping this bill alive!
