Hi List- Here's a simple one for most I'm sure.
I have a lady who would like to wear sandals or lighter weight shoes in the
summer, who is very conscious of the transition between cover and foot (and
understands that this transition can become more apparent with wear), and
would like a very lightweight foot.
She is a healthy 60 year old active community ambulator (no sporting
activities- just socializing and shopping (although shopping is a sport to
me sometimes!))
Out of all the feet out there which would you choose?
What is the greatest length of time the cosmetic skins you've used have
lasted? (Have tried Skinergy and Daw in past years so I know about them.)
Thanks for your thoughts.

Here are my responses (separated by a blank space):
Hi
If you haven't already decided, I'm sure you would be happy with the Ossur
K-2 foot and corresponding skin with split toe design. Their skin is durable
and would hold it's shape if used over a firm foam such as Friddles BK foam
wrap (as opposed to Otto-Bock soft foam cover).
Hi Kristin - If she doesn't require split toe for the sandals, I might try
the Otto Bock Trias. It is very lightweight and has a nice cosmetic shell,
as far as shells go! I'm not sure what would happen with a skin on it
because the inner foot does not fill in the shell - you can squeeze the foot
and feel the carbon foot inside.
Ossur Variflex or Freedom Silhouette foot with custom sprayed on skin from
PRS seems indicated here.
Kristin,
Your patient may be happiest with a Dycor foot. It is very, very light.
The ankle to foot transition doesn't exist in the normal fashion due to the
tapered design of the foot shell up around the attachment pyramid.
Additionally, the foot has a fairly natural appearance. Those are the
advantages. Now for the disadvantages. The feet are expensive compared to
the available reimbursement and they have the shortest useful lifespan of
any foot I have used. I hate using them, but, when you have a special need
they can be the solution. I think you'll get a year or maybe two but I
wouldn't expect any more than that.
My Gals prefer the Runway! Light weight?
