Dear O&P,

Does anyone have any information to help this person? Thank you in advance.

 >I am an Occupational Therapist working in Washington
DC. I work at the National Rehabilitation Hospital in
the seating clinic. Last week I met a 73 year old
gentleman who just had a left hemipelvectomy. He uses
a walker in his house, but prefers using a wheelchair.
We found an appropriate cushion and back to provide
him with support and comfort. The problem lies in his
insurance. He has Medicare and Kaiser Permanente.
Both require an ICD-9 code to cover the recommended
equipment. I have been unable to locate an ICD-9 code
for the hemipelvectomy, but also, the other amputee
codes will not work for the level of seating he
requires.

do you have any advice re. appropriate ICD-9 codes
that I can try?<

thank you for your help,
Victoria Goldhammer
