hi everyone.
i know this question was mulled over and over again, and many practitioners
just do this to keep the business and not to inconvenience the referral
sources. which creates a bad precident, but i do not want to discuss that.
my question is: are we, as profession, certified prosthetists, supposed to
remove stitches on amputation site?
from my school i learned that it's a big no-no. whatever is crossing skin
barriers is considered a surgical or microsurgical procedure and we can not
do this.
problem is - i need some legal material to support this. do not take
wrong - after i worked in morgue, i can remove anything from anything. but!
THE LIABILITY! unfortunately, i am being pressurized by the bosses, and
quite firmly, to start doing this, or we will loose the business and that
is in reference to a major metro hospital, where floors are roaming with all
kinds of nurses, MAs, PAs, etc.
so, does anyone, actually, know of any statute or other document that i can
use to shield myself? must have something official enough to work.
can not tell how much i'd appreciate this.
