Dear List Members,
Hey everybody I hope you all are having a good
weekend or had for those who will get this on
Monday(or later){man it is 4 am so sorry if this
sounds off}. I will first like to thank Paul
Prusakowski, CPO, FAAOP for his endless contribution
to the oandp society at large by this listserv. We
all are in debt to you. Thank you again. Everybody
else I would like to thank you all in advance for your
time.
I have a question I would like to ask about the
Ossur BAND CLAMP KIT or definitive fabric clamp that
is used to attach the shock module of the Re-Flex VSP
or even the Ceterus. This is a similiar device for
those of you in the past who remember the old
temporary metal clamp(s) which I'll assume was the
first generation clamp (that replacement fabric
clamp). You remember those good old days. But any
who, I am currently writing a evidence based research
paper proposal on the effectiveness of this device.
So, I guess my question right now is about the
possible problems that others in the industry might
have experienced with maybe their high activity, high
impact clients, and or Medicare functional level
K3-K4?
POSSIBLE ISSUES INCLUDE:
a) sounds of clicking without any signs of
delaminating of foot module?
b) premature (if there is such a thing / I will define
as under warranty) failure of shock module with or
without clicking prior or after failure?
c) rotational issues as in toe out or in (transverse
plane)?
d) maybe Ceterus specific question of loss of grooves
on foot module (since the shock module is metal and
harder than softer carbon foot module) but hey let's
not be hasty so has anyone seen similar problems with
the Re-Flex VSP and if so is the wear on the foot
module, shock, or both?
e) has anyone had any fabric clamps fail from the
point of view of stitching fare enough but how about
failure from the point of view of maybe stretching out
and having to re-torque the attachment screws. But
let's be fair, what about the screws itself has anyone
experienced failure of screw heads and or nuts?
f) for reference purposes what type of foot module did
it occur with low profile or even standard? But why
stop there you know; has anyone still have the old
school foot module that is anterior to the shock
pylon or is it the newer improved foot module
posterior to the shock module?
g) how many practitioners have clients that have
complained to them about holes,or tears in their socks
from the attachment screws? Just another topic that
might interest me and others with like conditions
presented.
h) again another question how many practitioners are
using the laminated carbon fiber bi-directional weaved
~2 cloth tape and two part 50/50 epoxy resin kit to
bond? This question is specific to Ceterus shock
module only.
PHEW!!! That was one loaded question wouldn't you
agree? Not another ?.
You can probably see where this is heading. I am
interested in actually testing the tensile strength of
this fabric definitive clamp to determine force
required to deform the clamp tested longitudinally as
to compare to failure rate of circumferentially
attached evidence based by responses to listserv and
other means but to also compare the tensile strength
of carbon fiber laminated bond. Hmmmm
Anyways, the other thing I am going to be looking into
is the the mechanical bonding of the laminating kit to
the Ceterus and its effectiveness to resolving any one
of many issues I can imagine as being a POSSIBLE and I
repeat POSSIBLE weak link mechanically.
If anyone has broken stuff, that they collect like I
do, especially pre-preg carbon feet and/or orthotics
and wants to donate them instead of throwing them out,
GOD FORBID, send them to me. :-)
Thank you all again in advance for the time and help
Sincerely,
