Practitioners around the world who have ever made a prosthesis for someone
with transfemoral amputation,
You may not realize it, but you owe a debt of gratitude to Ivan Long, CP(E).
In the early 1970's was one of the first to recognize that there may
actually be a better way to make a prosthesis than the quadrilateral socket
design and then set about discovering it.
Long's Line represents a pivotal turn in our understanding of prosthetic
alignment and in many ways began the revolution and evolution of the ischial
containment designs we use today. All that being said, I am sharing the
following request with this community from a very close friend of Ivan's.
Even if you do not know of or have never heard of Ivan Long, what a special
birthday gift we can give him by just sending him an email this Friday
afternoon or evening. Carol's request is as follows:
This coming Saturday, March 10th, Ivan Long, CP(E) will be celebrating his
85th birthday and he is blessed with excellent health! The first thing in
the morning he checks his email - really enjoying receiving news from
others. I am hoping that you and your friends who know Ivan Long would like
to send him a birthday greeting - I know he will really appreciate hearing
from you all. Please feel free to forward this note to others who know Ivan
Long. Let's fill his email box full.
His email address is: <Email Address Redacted>
Thank You!
Carole Harper
Thanks for considering it.
