Dear List Subscribers:
Hopefully, everyone who may be affected is already aware of these new
requirements. However, to avoid potential embarrassment and delays the new
requirements for passports are being shared with each of you.
Today is when new rules regarding requirements for passports became
effective. Anyone flying into the United States as of today must possess a
valid passport. Prior to today you were not required to have a passport if
you were arriving from Canada, Mexico, Bermuda or the Caribbean.
The new rules will affect anyone who will be traveling by air to attend the
US-ISPO meeting in Canada in February or the ISPO meeting in July in
Vancouver. According to the State Department, for now the rules affect
only air travelers. Land and sea travelers will not have to show passports
until at least January 2008. Air travelers who cannot produce a passport
will be interviewed by customs agents, who will decide whether to let them
into the country.
If you are planning to attend one of these meetings please make sure that
you have a valid passport. For information on obtaining a passport please
visit the State Department website at <URL Redacted>.
