I have had a few question my claim about CO2 from 1 gallon of gasoline.

All of us should know this stuff .

Most of the 6 lbs of gasoline is carbon.

CO2 is made up of one carbon and two oxygens.

The molecular weight of oxygen is 16 each, and carbon is 12 (CO2
total=44).

When it burns it takes two oxygens out of the atmosphere (no big deal
there is plenty to go around), but that is where all the weight comes
from.

So... 6lbs is to 12, as X is to 44.

You can do the math, but X is around 20lbs.

Thanks for asking.

Ian
