Hello all,

I have been asked to provide a TLSHO for a CP child who has had bil hip
surgery (R - hip replacement, L- Femoral head/neck/GT resection. The
intention of the surgery was to correct his windswept (to the right)
position. The PT's would like a TLSO + hip joints and thigh cuffs to
maintain neutral ab/ad on the right side and about 10-15deg abduction on the
left. He still has a tendnacy to return to his right windswept position
(right abd - 45+deg, Left Add 45deg)

Ideally I am looking for a hip joint which will allow free abduction (for
donning only) and flexion stops. I want to be able to lock the AD/ABduction
once the device is donned, flexion stop at about 25deg. The only joint I
have found that will allow for abduction during donning is the MAO from USMC
- the only problem is that the abduction can't be locked at neutral once the
device is donned. Does anyone know of a joint that can do this? Is there a
way to modify the MAO to lock abd/add?

I think I am going to end up with the Virtual hip joint from Orthomerica - I
have never used one of these and I am wondering if anyone else has any
experience with them for this type of application. Any pointers would be
helpful - this will be a night positioning brace mainly.

Thanks for your help! Thanks to Paul for providing this resource for these
once in a blue moon orthoses!
