I am making a new socket for a below-knee amputee to resolve severe distal skin breakdown and weeping due to edema. Due to patella tracking and other knee problems, supracondylar is our only suspension choice. When he is up and walking most of the day the problem decreases. When he sits most of the day the weeping and edema increases. I remember seeing a socket made with a flexible distal end that was supposed to provide for distal pressure that was constant whether the socket was loaded or unloaded. Any suggestions?
