A Historical Exploration:

An Eye prosthesis has been found in IRAN (shaher sookhte) from 4800 years
ago.
This eye prosthetic belonged to a well built woman between 25 -30 years old.
According to the primary studies, there are organic signs of the eye-lid on
the prosthesis.
For simulation of the thin vessels of the iris they used very thin gold
wire.
For the attachment of this prosthesis to the eye socket, small two perforations
are used in lateral parts of the prosthesis.
