I am looking for success and failure stories. I have a mid 20s woman who
has bilateral BK amputations. Left is mid tibia, Right is Lis Franc. She
is well healed and coming to me for her second set of px. She has been in
her preps for two years due to insurance issues. Pt lives on the street and
hygiene is an issue. The left side is no problem. On her right she has
been very successfully wearing a clamshell symes style PTB prosthesis with
Sringlite LP symes foot. She has slight Equinovarus of the right foot but
the px did a great job of keeping her in line. I would love to give her
less bulk and weight on the right side but protect the foot. I know there
are some successful pts with partial feet in AFOs. I am hesitant due to the
activity of this pt. and pressure issues. She still is traveling the
country by hopping trains and very rough on herself and equipment. Any
opinions are appreciated.
