The answer is simple really. This kind of thing happens all the time in my town. Call his insurance provider and tell them his story. Tell them that he needs a new prosthesis or socket replacement or componentry replaced or whatever the case may be. They will most certainly give you an approval to do the right thing. I had a patient just come in 3 weeks ago with a c-leg (by the way, he paid $68,000.00 for it) that he recieved less than a year ago and they approved a new leg for me to make him. The weird thing is that they gave me 4 weeks to do it when they know the last company couldn't fit him in a years time...whatever? I am not going in to details over this, just merely pointing out a direction for Mr. Cartaya to travel in the pursuit of happiness for his patient.
