I have just seen a 54 y.o. lady who fractured the proximal ends of her
radius and ulna. There are no contraction or instability issues but she has
pain through 0-30 deg of flexion and numbness and discomfort at 100+ deg
flexion. I have been looking through catalogs and the net for ROM elbow
joints or pediatric knee joints. Becker has the U-30-2 joint but it can
only be set in 30 deg increments for the flexion and extension stops.
Others are meant for contracture management etc.
The most appropriate I have seen is the EO ROM from Ultraflex systems. This
offers free motion within the set flexion and extension range and can be set
at any degree. I would be using both medial and lateral joints, my concern
is that it looks like it would torque, bind and possible fracture easily. I
haven't seen on in action before, does anyone have experience with this
joint?
Any experience with the Ultraflex or suggestions of other ROM joints would
be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!
