Thanks to the handful of people that responded about trying to get silicone
glue residue off of a socket brim in order to get another cosmetic skin to
adhere. While Acetone was suggested, this doesn't work. It just makes the
socket gummier.
There was another suggestion for MEK, methyl-ethyl-ketone, but I opted to
just sand the socket lightly in order to remove the residue. Barge cement
and the new skin adhered well. As a last resort, someone else suggested
re-laminating the socket. I'm glad I didn't have to go that route!
