OOPA members
There have been a great many things happening since our last meeting. Parity
legislation is moving forward and our bill has been sent to Salem for
rewrite. We had 2 great meetings sponsored by the ACA in Portland and have several
allies in our fight.
Some will be glad to hear that there is an O&P licensure bill modeled on the
Washington state law that has been drafted and is apparently ready for
submission to the Oregon house. Finally, the legislature is slated to take up the
issue of forcing Prosthetists in the state of Oregon to unconditionally
warranty prosthesis for fit, function, and or failure.
Unless you want these bills to pass as written I advise you to become
involved in OOPA. I have set up a meeting for Oct. 21st a Sat. at 10:00 AM. This
will be held in southern Portland at Legacy Meridian hospital. This is for OOPA
members only and this will be the last letter sent out this year appealing
to all Oregon practitioners to join. If the issues of prosthetic warranty,
licensure, or O&P parity are topics that affect you then join your fellow
practitioners in OOPA and come to the meeting.
Once again this meeting is for OOPA members so you must join OOPA to attend.
If you have not joined you may bring you membership fee ($100) to the
meeting. please RVSP.
