Help support the Wounded Warrior Project
Text:
Friends and Colleagues:
I'm running the Marine Corps Marathon on October 29th and I am raising money
for the Wounded Warrior Project. I have had the privilege to work with
several of these young men and women at amputee running camps and other events. I
want to support the organization that supports them from day one after a
severe injury in the line of duty. Please read more about the project below or go
to their website. _ <URL Redacted>
( <URL Redacted>)
Bottom line, I'm asking for donations of $1 per mile. You can sponsor me for
half the marathon 13.1 miles ($13.10) or the whole marathon 26.2 miles
($26.20). That is the maximum I will accept for the benefit of these heroes from
any one person. If you want to do more, send this on to your friends and
coworkers or post it on the bulletin board with sign up list. I want to get the
word out to as many people as possible about this great project.
Here is the easy part, just reply to this email or if forwarded to you
E-mail me at <Email Address Redacted> (mailto:<Email Address Redacted>) After the race I
will send you details on how to make the donation. Right now just tell me you
want to be a part of my donation platoon. ALL Money will go directly to the
Wounded Warrior Project. I am paying all my own expenses even the entry fee.
My Father was a proud Marine and was wounded as well. He would have been 80
this year so it's also in honor of him I run.
For those who may not know me - I am a below the knee amputee and the Marine
Corps Marathon will be my 5th Marathon.
Please help me, help those who have given so much and just want to continue
to give.
Thanks and God Bless you all for your support,
Jack Richmond

Every injured warrior has the hope of returning home with dignity and
honor, and more than any other organization that I have observed thus far,
including our D.O.D., the Project is accomplishing that!
Respectfully,
A former Marine
I wanted to tell you thank you for all you do. My son was injured by an
IED 3 months ago today in Iraq. When my son got to Walter Reed on 7-24-2004 he
had a back pack, I asked him where did he get the back pack he said a man in
Landstuhl gave it to him and a check for $100.00. We never knew who to thank.
Now I know!!!!! Had it not been for your program, he would have arrived
states side with only a t-shirt, jogging pants and a pair of socks. You are
Angels here on Earth. I am spreading your cause through e-mail today.
Sincerely,
A Wounded Soldier's Mother

Mr. John Melia, I would like to thank you for the recent gift of airline
tickets for me and my family. After my husband was injured and he was in the
hospital for 8 weeks, it was nice for us all to fly to be with him for his
follow-up appointment. With out your gift we would not have been able to do that,
and it would have meant more separation for us. It is a blessing to know
that we have support for wounded soldiers and their families that we are not
forgotten. You helped make a stressful time easier.
Thank you again,
Wounded Soldier's Family
Mr. Melia,
We met at Walter Reed Army Medical Center on May 5th, 2004 in Ward 57.I
wanted to thank you for making a difference in the lives of my Son and the rest
of the brave men and women who are currently at WRAMC. Your support and gifts
really mean allot to all of them, and just having someone like all of you
coming by to see them, really makes their day. Please accept my gratitude as a
Father, and I wish you the best on your continued support under the Wounded
Warrior Project to all of our Heroes.
Thank you,
Chief Warrant Officer
