Isaac Mwangi, 26 years old, lives in Naivasha, Kenya, which is about 1 ½
hours from Nairobi lost his arm in a in March, 2006 auto accident .
The amputation is approximately 6-8 inches below the shoulder.
He was driving a van in Nairobi, Kenya. He hit a pot hole, lost control of
the car and it crushed his arm, which was hanging out the window when the
van landed on its side. (They drive on the right side of the road and his
right arm was hanging out the window.
I have picture for those that may want to request them.
His general overall health condition is very good as is his positive mental
attitude.
We are currently looking for a qualified prosthetist in or near Nairobi or
Johannesburg to evaluate and possibly fit Mr. Mwangi with hook and terminal
device components. The cost will be underwritten by a benefactor to the Barr
Foundation.
In the event the prosthetist cannot be found in Africa we, will be brining
the applicant to Texas, Houston area, where he can stay with friends and
people from his church during his rehabilitation. Prosthetists in these area
can also reply if you would be willing to evaluate and sponsor his
rehabilitation for a predetermined amount that would include teaching him to
use his new arm,hand.
Please contact the Barr Foundation if you maybe able to suggest a qualified
prosthetist in either Africa or Texas.
Thank you,
