Georgia Institute of Technology’s Exercise Physiology Lab is seeking volunteers for a research project to investigate the energy cost, blood lactate and heart rate response during treadmill running in amputee and non-amputee runners. Young adult amputee (< 40 years of age) runners and non-amputee runners are needed. Criteria for selection are that you have been doing regular running training (at least 4 hours per week) for at least one year.
You will be asked to participate in ONE session which will be conducted in the Exercise Physiology Laboratory on the Georgia Tech campus. The entire test session is anticipated to require approximately 2.5 hours.
You will receive information on your:
· aerobic capacity (VO2 max)
· lactate threshold
· body fat percentage
· heart rate response to exercise
Information gained from the results of the study could potentially benefit you as a competitive endurance athlete to know what type of training intensity will help you to improve your fitness and performance.
There is no compensation for participation in this study.
If you would like more information about the study or how to volunteer to be a subject, please contact:
