Hello Everyone,
Just a note to say that I got a phone call back from my present orthotist. They apologised for not being able to help me, and for making me struggle for a year and a half with these current Chedoke invented Chevron/Dynamic AFOs wihich they made. Don Weber has spoken with them, and they are alright with my continuing my journey there, as Don knows the most about these braces. He helped design them, and the professionals in my hometown do not know how to fix the issues I am having. I truly believe this might be the wrong style of brace for me, as I am pulling myself out of them and into akward positions due to dystonic tone, and even with an ankle strap. This gives me closure with that company, even with all the struggles and anguish (and a massive pressure sore that still exists on my foot due to this style of brace).
I do not feel my feet very well after selective dorsal rhizotomy, but even after them working on moving plastic and padding for several months, my physiatrist still thought my foot was broken.
It is actually still painful, and I have been told will take a year to a year and a half to really totally heal.
I saw my general practitioner yesterday and got him to write a script for new bracing, so that when I travel to Hamilton to see Don Weber, something new can be made if necessary. I hope and pray that Don just recasts and starts over.
Please keep me in your thoughts and prayers that I will find an easy and inexpensive way to get to Hamilton. I live 2 hours away and do not drive.
I hope and pray Don can help me.
Blessings,
Jennifer
Don't Quit.
Don't quit when the tide is lowest,
For it's just about to turn;
Don't Quit over doubts and questions,
For there's something you may learn.
Don't quit when the night is darkest,
For it's just a while 'til dawn;
Don't quit when you've run the farthest,
For the race is almost won.
Don't quit when the hill is steepest,
For your goal is almost nigh;
Don't quit, for you're not a failure
Until you fail to try.
