Here's a little topic for discussion. When is a patient given an opportunity to decide who will manufacture their prosthesis. Amputee's typically are not always given the decision and decision is made for them. May it be their surgeon, physical therapist, or referral through their insurance company, and other ways of course such as Internet or simple yellow pages. A couple of situations have come my way and looking for some suggestions from fellow practitioners on how they would handle the situation?
I have a prescription from the primary surgeon and I am the recommended practitioner to provide the prosthetic care.
Patient leaves acute hospital and goes to sub acute.
What is the proper steps that one would go to not the lose patient to another practitioner or P&O group.
